DAY 10: I SURRENDER!

Surrender is an unpopular word. It implies losing, and no one wants to be a loser. Surrender evokes the unpleasant images of admitting defeat. The word is almost always used in a very negative context.

Today, we are taught to never give up and never give in. If winning is everything, surrendering is unthinkable. We would rather talk about overcoming, winning, conquering, and obeying. But, surrendering to God is a different story.  Surrendering is not repressing your personality or does not mean giving up rational thinking. It means sacrificing something in order to change what needs to be change. The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become- because he made us (C.S Lewis).

         - Trust is an essential ingredients to surrender. You can’t surrender unless we fully trust him, but you can’t trust him until you know him better. Fear keeps us from fully surrendering, but love and trust casts all of it. I mean the more you realize how much love God has for you, the easier surrender becomes.

       - A total barrier to surrender. To have complete control- is the cause of so much stress in our lives. Life is a struggle but most people don’t realize is that our struggle is really a struggle with God.

The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders, and interfering with God’s work within us.” (A.W. TOZER)

When we faced with our own limitations, we react with irritation, anger, and resentment. We want to be taller (or shorter), smarter, stronger, more talented, more beautiful, skinny, fat, and wealthier. We want to have it all, and we become upset when it doesn’t happen. Then when we notice that God gave others characteristics we don’t have, we respond with envy, jealousy, and self-pity.

Everybody eventually surrenders to something or someone. You are free to choose what you surrender to, but you are not free from the consequences of that choice. Surrender is not the best way to live; it is the only way to live. Surrendering your life is not foolish emotional impulse but a rational, intellectual act, the most responsible and sensible thing you can do with your life. Your wisest moment will be those when you say yes to HIM. :)

Dear Jesus,

I’ll give it all to you now. My past regrets, my present problems, my future ambitions, my fears, dreams, weaknesses, heartaches, habits, hurts, pains, and hang-ups. I’ll let you be the driver of my life and will not be afraid no more. I will let you control the uncontrollable circumstances. Jesus, I surrender now.

sincerely praying,

kayen

DAY 9: What makes HIM smile?

Since pleasing God is one of my purpose, then, discovering how to make God smile is my goal. The Bible says, “Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it.”  Since then I’ve been figuring out how to make Jesus smile in my own little ways. So here are the ways I know to make HIM smile:

-I loved Jesus with all of my heart and soul. I loved him more than anything else and I enjoyed the close relationship with HIM. God made me to love him and to know him more, and he longs for that. This is why learning to love God and be loved by him should be the greatest objective of our life.

                - I’ve learn to trust Jesus even if sometimes it doesn’t make any sense to me. Imagine this: Before, I have this issues in my life that only God knows. All my friends can’t comprehend why I’m doing such thing but still I did what I know is right. I trust God completely and didn’t complain even though I’m in such great pain. And the day comes that he revealed to me the answers. And I was blessed on how the answers help me  fix the issues in my life that brought me so much pain. I was happy that I fully trusted him with no doubts. Trusting God completely means having faith that he knows what is best for my life. We expect him to keep his promises, help you with problems, and do impossible when necessary.

               - I would be honest that often I try to offer God partial obedience. I sometimes pick and make list of commands I like and obey those while ignoring the ones I think is unreasonable, difficult, expensive and popular. I know that partial obedience is still disobedience but I’m working hard to change this. I want to be like Noah who obeyed God completely with no instruction was overlooked and obeyed God exactly in the way and time God wanted it done. I want to be like Noah who obeyed God wholeheartedly. I know God doesn’t owe me explanation or reason for everything he ask me to do. Understanding can wait, but obedience can’t. In fact, we will never understand some commands until we learn to obey them first. Obedience unlock understanding.

            - I really do this often :) . I mean, I feel good every time I praise him and thank him for all the beautiful chances I encounter and the blessing I received. I know he smile when I expresses my adoration and gratitude to him.  When I give God enjoyment, my heart filled so much joy.

DAY 8: Planned for God pleasure

The moment I was born in this world, God already planned me. He didn’t need to create me, but he choose to. I exist for his benefit, his glory, his love, his purpose, his delight and his pleasure.

Bringing pleasure to God is called “worship” . Anything that you do that gave pleasure to God is an act of worship. Depending on your religious background, you may need to expand your understanding of worship. If we heard the word worship the first thing that always comes to our mind are church services/ceremonies, listening to sermon, praying, singing, healing, miracles, ecstatic experiences but worship is far more than these expressions. Worship is a lifestyle to live on. Every activity we do can be transformed into an act of worship when you do it for God. Doing everything as if you were doing it for Jesus. The real worship is all about—-falling in love with jesus. :)

DAY 7: The reason for everything.

WHAT’S THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING?

ANSWER: “it’s all for HIM.”

When I decided to contemplate on this matter I start looking thoughtfully on everything God has made. The trees, the sky, the sunset, the stars, the people etc. I start reflecting on everything and everywhere, from the smallest microscopic form of life he made. And I realized, without HIM we don’t exist. The reason why I’m here and why everything in this world exists is because of God. Without God we are nothing.

Throughout my life, God revealed his glory to me in different settings and time. His greatness to me and his goodness. And before, I forgotten to recognize, reflect, glorify, thank, and live for his purpose to me. Now, I’m starting from scratch to make changes and do the things he wants me to do. For HE is the reason why I’m living.

When I decided to live for God I know that it requires all of my priorities, my time, my relationship, and everything to be change in his purpose. Sometimes it means I need to choose difficult paths than easy ones. I would be honest, sometimes I hesitate and wonder if I do have the strength to live for God. But when I think about it God will gave me the needs, joy and hope I need in my life so I always ends up choosing to live for Him. :)

DAY 6: Life is a test.

We are continually tested by God through our characters, faith, obedience, love, integrity, and loyalty. He constantly watches how we response to people, problems, success and etc.

In my own complicated life I have noticed that God tests my faith through some major changes, test my patience by how I can patiently wait on delayed promises, test my strength on how I can handle impossible problems, undeserved criticism and unanswered prayers, and test my love through people.

When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant. Even the smallest incident that happens has significance for your character development. Every day is an important day, and every second is a growing process to deepen  your character, to demonstrate love. or to depend on Him.

DAY 5: Seeing Life.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR LIFE?

The way I see life shapes my life. I believe that how we define life determines our destiny. Our own perspective will influence on how we invest in everything. Like time, money, used of talents and how we value our relationship to others and to God.

I’ve been conducting survey to all my tumblrista’s  asking them HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR LIFE?. For me, It’s my way of understanding other people and understanding life itself. duh! heavy..hehehe :)

Anyways, I bumped to a question asking me if how do I picture my life and what image would come to my mind? (Life metaphor as they called it). The most profound and honest answer I could give is: “FULFILLED LIFE”. Fulfilled in all aspect of my life. Fulfilled in the sense of doing what God wants me do with my life. I know it’s somewhat ambitious and impossible but that’s the most honest answer I could give at the moment.

Life metaphor is the view of life that we hold, consciously or unconsciously, in our mind. It’s our description of how life works and what we expect from it. People often express their life metaphor through clothes, jewelry, cars, tattoos, fashion etc. But the most influential metaphor in life is the unspoken ones. Because, it determines our expectations, goals, and our priorities in life. For instances, if you view life as a party, your primary value in life would be having fun. If you see life as a race, then you will value speed and probably you would be in a hurry all the time. And if you see life as a battle or a game, winning is essential to you.

I know all of this life metaphors would be very important for other people in their point of view but for me seeing life from God’s view is what I’m aiming for. :)
